  • yeah America …

Poor Rush Limbaugh.  Dropped from the group that was put together to purchase the Rams all because his mouth and a bit of truth when talking about Donovan McNabb in 2003 when working with ESPN.  Was it a tad racists?  Maybe.  Was there truth to the matter?  Of course there was.  Rush was being what he’s good at, an instigator.  Where’s the truth you ask?  Limbaugh called McNabb overrated and prior to 2004 he was.  Everyone compared McNabb to Randall Cunningham, a great scrambling QB with a rifle of an arm that was somewhat accurate.  McNabb was a great scrambler but his arm wasn’t that accurate (sub 60% completion percentage).  Then in 2004 the Eagles were able to get T.O. and things changed.  Not just because McNabb finally had a good receiver to throw to but he also started to learn how to play the QB position in terms throwing the ball instead of just running around.  So my point in all of this, before 2004 McNabb was overrated.  After that he’s a pretty good one who’s playing extremely well right now.  And yes, I’m a McNabb fan.  Unfortunately, he gets a raw deal from the Philly fans for always trying to kick him out while trying to replace him with someone else (this year it’s Vick).  All in all, IMO Limbaugh was accurate in his assessment of McNabb back then.

A few things surprise me about all of this ordeal.  First, one would have thought if Limbaugh became an NFL owner they would have pressured him to keep his mouth shut.  Look what happened to Mark Cuban, Dallas Mavericks owner.  Sure he’s a fiery owner who speaks his mind but after a few seasons and huge fines for opening his mouth he’s calmed down now.  Now with Limbaugh out of the ownership picture he has nothing holding his mouth back whenever the NFL, it’s players or anything NFL related does something he doesn’t agree with.  The NFL doesn’t like to be in the spotlight unless it’s sports related.  Now it’ll always be in the spotlight because of Limbaugh.  Smooth move.

The last surprising bit is that we hear nothing from Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson about Jason Campbell and his current escapade in the NFL.  I wonder why.  I wonder why.

  • World Wide Web fun …

Just a bunch of funny stuff I’ve found on the web recently.

I guess this Redskin’s fan has finally had enough.  I was actually surprised that eBay didn’t pull the plug on this one but nonetheless it was still funny to me.  Then again living in this area and being long time Bullets/Wizards, Caps, Terps and a Orioles fan you get used to the losing.  Sure we’ve got DC United but who cares about soccer?

With the holidays coming up do you have any football fans on your list?  Do they also happen to like the Slanket or the Snuggle?  Well you’re in luck since they now have the NFL Huddlers.  What I found the funniest was the poor model who had to pose with each Slanket.  When I originally saw this HSN had her mug for every team in a different head slant and smile.  It was hilarious.  I unfortunately, was too slow to grab a screen shot thinking this stuff would be a shelf-warmer.  Boy was I wrong!

And lastly, a Tom Toles political cartoon from Sunday.  For all the people who still side with the selection, this should clear it up for them.  But wait they’re probably the same people who tell their kids that they can’t fail and even when they do it’s not their fault it’s the “systems” fault.  Man I luv to generalize.

  • Say WHAT? …

If you haven’t heard President Obama has just won the Nobel Peace Prize.  Yes, for nine months in office and seemingly little results other than words he has just won one of the major world awards.  To quote Michael Steele (How can you not like Michael Steele???  He luvs puppies!!!):

Republican Party Chairman Michael Steele said Obama won because of his “star power” rather than meaningful accomplishments.

“The real question Americans are asking is, ‘What has President Obama actually accomplished?’” Steele said.

Depending on where you sit on the fence I think Republicans and those with intelligence are asking that.  Those still swooning over Obama are not.  It’s funny how the act of trying to get rid of evil is seen as non-peaceful.  That the need to eradicate those whom harm the innocent, exploit the poor and demean women and those of other cultures is noted as being as horrible as those being targeted.  (This would be Bush we’re talking about)

I guess the world see’s peace as being ignorant with a blind eye.  If it doesn’t affect me, my life style and I’m happy then there must be peace.  I have no responsibility to the rest of mankind because there is peace in my mind.

Then I saw another beast, coming out of the earth. He had two horns like a lamb, but he spoke like a dragon. He exercised all the authority of the first beast on his behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed. And he performed great and miraculous signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to earth in full view of men. Because of the signs he was given power to do on behalf of the first beast, he deceived the inhabitants of the earth. He ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived. He was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that it could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name.

This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man’s number. His number is 666. (Revelation 13:11-18)

Update: Some good stuff in here – some highlights:

  • Just a bunch of links …

    • It’s ALL about ME.  Yes, me.  It’s not surprising since our parents generation grew up on watching West Side Story.  All I can think of is Natalie Wood singing “I am pretty, oh so pretty …”  Wait, West Side Story is one of my favorite movies, what am I talking about?
    • Narcissistic society?  It’s all because we were spanked as kids.  You know because “Spanking, moreover, reinforces negative memories in the child’s mind, Newman said. Parents should aim instead to build “prominent, happy memories” of childhood for their kids, she said.”  Really?  Is that so?  Good thing my brothers and I have that oh so, aggressive behavior later in life.  What morons.
    • I gotta go find this British chocolate.  It’s like when you go to McDonalds outside of the U.S. and the food taste soooo good because they use the bad oil.  It’s gotta be just like that.  It has to be.
    • The anti-green reason for using non-rechargeable batteries.
    • Sounds cool.  Really wish I was this creative in college, or now.
    • Wanna know what swine flu feels like?  Ask Dr. Sanjay Gupta.
    • Maryland finally announces their recommendations for the cost of using the ICC.
    • A co-worker and I were talking about this maybe a year or so ago.  We should have patented the idea!!!  I find it funny (or irritating depending on how you look at it) that they want to introduce a bill to yet again, protect us from ourselves.  I guess air pollution is all the craze but nothing about noise pollution.  I can get the bit about those who are blind but everyone else?  Hello!  Pay attention to your surroundings.  Wait.  Wait.  That would require us to live outside our narcissistic, self-centered world.  Yep, morons.

  • For a Sick Friend …

A friend of ours has been ill for the past several months and the doctors have no clue what’s causing him to be sick.  A few of us have been praying for him, fasting for him, sending him DVD collections to watch and basically hope that God will heal him.  Not that I don’t want my friend to get well, but I secretly hope that when they figure out what’s wrong with him and cure him, my friend will send his story to the writers of House to make into a future episode!  That would be so awesome … for him.

During worship, we song one of his favorite songs …

Hope you get better soon!  Let me know if you need season 2 & 3.
