  • Say WHAT? …

If you haven’t heard President Obama has just won the Nobel Peace Prize.  Yes, for nine months in office and seemingly little results other than words he has just won one of the major world awards.  To quote Michael Steele (How can you not like Michael Steele???  He luvs puppies!!!):

Republican Party Chairman Michael Steele said Obama won because of his “star power” rather than meaningful accomplishments.

“The real question Americans are asking is, ‘What has President Obama actually accomplished?’” Steele said.

Depending on where you sit on the fence I think Republicans and those with intelligence are asking that.  Those still swooning over Obama are not.  It’s funny how the act of trying to get rid of evil is seen as non-peaceful.  That the need to eradicate those whom harm the innocent, exploit the poor and demean women and those of other cultures is noted as being as horrible as those being targeted.  (This would be Bush we’re talking about)

I guess the world see’s peace as being ignorant with a blind eye.  If it doesn’t affect me, my life style and I’m happy then there must be peace.  I have no responsibility to the rest of mankind because there is peace in my mind.

Then I saw another beast, coming out of the earth. He had two horns like a lamb, but he spoke like a dragon. He exercised all the authority of the first beast on his behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed. And he performed great and miraculous signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to earth in full view of men. Because of the signs he was given power to do on behalf of the first beast, he deceived the inhabitants of the earth. He ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived. He was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that it could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name.

This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man’s number. His number is 666. (Revelation 13:11-18)

Update: Some good stuff in here – some highlights:

    • If Obama deserves the Noble Peace Prize then so does every Miss America contestant who babbles about world peace. – Michael Lipkin
    • How can Obama get the Nobel Peace Prize hours before the U.S. is supposed to bomb the Moon?! – kzamri
    • And then there’s this picture of Obama as a peace dove:

  • To me, this Nobel Peace Prize sends us a message about how much other countries want the U.S. to change direction with foreign policy. They want us to use diplomatic power in a collaborative way rather than to use our physical power unilaterally. President Obama symbolizes the possibility of this shift.

    From the New York Times:
“Americans elected Mr. Obama because they wanted him to restore American values and leadership — and because they believed he could. The Nobel Prize, and the broad endorsement that followed, shows how many people around the world want the same thing.”
