  • Why am I so enamored by Snakes on a Plane?  I know it’s a bad, bad movie.  But I just can’t get it out of my head!  Look you can even get T-shirts to wear to
    the movie!  T-SHIRTS!

  • Oh no!  Not Pluto!  Don’t get rid of Pluto!

We’re not talking about the yellow Disney dog.  Although have you ever wondered why Goofy, a
talking, walking-on-two-legs dog, would be Pluto’s owner/master?  A dog owning another dog; that just seems
    weird.

What we’re talking about is the
International Astronomical Union is reevaluating the definition of what a “planet”
    is.
      There has been some consideration
that Pluto would be removed since it’s an extremely small planet.  One the other hand there is also the
consideration of adding three more planets for a total of twelve in our solar
system.  Charon, the largest of Pluto’s
moon, Ceres, an astroid which was classified as a planet before it was demoted
and Xena, the Warrior Princess planet.
(It’s actually called 2003 UB313 but Xena is the nickname the founder of
the planet mass gave it.)  Man, that’s
going to kill the mnemonic that was taught in grade school.

The new planet order would be: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Ceres, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune,
Pluto, Charon and Xena.  But lets not jump the gun here.  We’ll stick to My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizza Pies (ok the last word doesn’t count but it makes it easier to remember)

  • Ok, Season 3 hasn’t been released to DVD just
yet.  However, I have the last four
episodes, which includes the series finale on tape.  Chewy had never seen them so we’re just catching up on a few
shows before the rush of the new TV seasons starts.  If you’ve never watched Arrested Development, it is one of the
most intelligent, satirical, sarcastic, situational comedies ever put out.  Too bad people didn’t watch it and FOX
cancelled it like many other fine shows (Firefly, Wonderfalls, Futurama,
    etc).

Season 1 and 2 are already out on
DVD – what are you waiting for?  Go out
and watch them!  (or ask me to borrow them
since I have them both)  And yes, I watch a lot of TV … but it’s all good TV!!!

  • And yet another recall …

Dell has put out another recall for potentially,
    explosive Sony batteries.  A co-worker
joked about how Sony first tried to put a root kit on your computer and now
tries to destroy the evidence!  And we
wonder why we haven’t seen any Sony VAIO’s have any of these problems.  We wonder indeed.

A somewhat demented thought had crossed my mind while
talking about this with a different co-worker:
What happens if the batteries in our work laptops, (mine actually has a
bad battery) which are given for contingency purposes only, explode at home
while we are work.  Who’s liable?  Dell?
Work – since it’s not for work-at-home purposes? Or our personal home
insurance?  Obviously we wish this on no
    one but … What if?

  • And so it begins …

Today marks a day of change for some of us.  It’s been twelve years since we’ve had this
shared ministry with Mount Vernon Place United Methodist Church (MVP) and today
God has called the Chinese Community Church to end that shared ministry.  During those twelve years God’s hand has
been involved in the inner workings of the people.  We’ve seen loved ones leave, new friends join and most
importantly the lessons of having faith in our Lord our Savior in all that we
do.  MVP provided a safe haven in terms
of a place to worship, large amounts of space to worship, classroom space, a
place to fellowship, ample parking spaces and to share in the life of another
generation and race.  The MVP-er’s have
taught us so much in their devotion to God just through all that they do even
when some were double our own ages!  God
    had a plan.

God still has a plan for us.  Yes, a day of change.  An
exciting day of change when the young are sent off to further God’s kingdom
beyond the safety of their past.  To
continue to have the faith that was represented and displayed by those loving
    brothers and sisters at MVP.

And so it begins, today, Sunday, August 13, 2006; another chapter
at CCC that will demonstrate God’s love and mercy to a different part of
Washington, D.C.  We thank God for those
past and present MVP-er’s who were there for us.  God has a plan for them as well and together as brothers and
sisters in Christ God’s plan will be done.
For the Glory of God, we exalt Him!

  • Do you constantly ask God about your life?  Are you actively transforming your life to
the life God wants you to have?  This
book, that a good friend gave me several years ago, helped with my perspective
on the life God has given me and how important it is to not waste it.  Thankfully, I have some weight in terms of what our Bible study group studies so we’ll be discussing this book starting on Friday.

  • Pretty good news for a show that didn’t make it past 11 episodes on the air.  Joss is a genius.

I have no clue why Europe is Crazy over David Hasselhof

  • Ahhhh, he’s so cute …

Wait what am I doing, I need to finish up Bible study!!!
