I work at the “ghetto of the IT world” as my co-worker calls it. For years we’ve sported pagers. Then someone didn’t pay the bill so we were walking around for several weeks with non-functioning bricks on our belts.
Then we got these large Nextel phones that our department doesn’t have to pay for. It isn’t so bad since they are functional and someone else is fitting the bill.
Yet, as we were getting these phones every other IT group got Blackberries. Always a step behind. In a moment of silliness, my co-worker cut out a picture of a Blackberry and attached it to his belt. He was so proud to strut around with his new piece of technology. Yep, definitely ghetto.

Not sure how many people saw this the other day but these are the things that absolutely scare me about our government (whether federal, state or local). Parents should have the ability to choose how they discipline their kids. Is there a moral dilemma in this particular action? I think not. I know my parents spanked me when I acted out of line whether at home or in public. I’m sure they didn’t like the attention that was brought to them at that particular moment but the lessons I learned are there for a life time. My parents put the fear of God and of them into my life!
Kids run so rampant these days because parents are scared of their kids and the potential call from the local Social Services group. It’s scary to hear these proposed laws pop up. Plus spanking is Biblical! (I’m still trying to remember the sermon a previous pastor gave about this.)
He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is careful to discipline him. (Proverbs 13:24)
