Probably been seeing all the GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra commercials lately for the upcoming movie. As a child of the 80′s I was also a fan of GI Joe. Fan enough to enjoy the show and a few of the toys but not fan enough to go to a JoeCon (which is run by the same company that runs Botcon). When the first rumors came out about this movie everyone was excited. The cast included a few unknowns but also a few known actors such as Sienna Miller as the Baroness who by most fanboys consider as very hawtsome.

The problem with a live action movie is the translation of the characters to their respective toys. As cartoon characters the toys would translate pretty well. But not so much for a live action movie as here’s a picture of the new Baroness toy:
I sure would have liked to see Sienna Millers face when they showed her her action figure. This probably is a blessing in disguise since there’s now no desire to pick up any of the new GI Joe movie toys.
To our delight as we left the Red Line station near our house this evening, we were presented with free Blue Bunny Frozen Yogurt Granola Snacks. The Double Chocolate Sedona Frozen Yogurt Granola Sandwiches had a nice blend of chocolate yogurt taste and surprisingly the granola part wasn’t like a typical granola bar texture but more like a graham cracker pie crust. Most excellent especially after enduring a ride home on the Red Line.
Apparently, Billy Mays was not a Bonus Round but the start of another Celebrity Death Trifecta. Karl Malden passed on July 1st. Then it was Steve McNair on July 4th. I sorta remember Malden but for those football fans I think we know who Air McNair was. I remember that Super Bowl in 2000 when they lost by one yard. I remember him signing with the Ravens and playing there for a few seasons. Even with all the news about Jacko I found this one article about McNair pretty interesting with Eddie George as quoated saying:

For the most part the same could be said about everyone. In some sense aren’t we all constantly searching for something? For some it could be love or friendship. Maybe plastic toys that changes from robot to vehicle or anything else that will and could fill a void. But really, why do we always forget to ask why there is a void to begin with? Where does the void come from? Is it just from having something in the past and then suddenly not having it? When do we move past the things of our own mind and self and start thinking about those around us. Oh yeah, forgot. It’s a “ME” society.

Sorta feel odd just saying “America” since Canada is part of the “Americas” but isn’t really part of the good o’l U.S. Americans – well depending on who you ask.
We spent our July 3rd day off by helping the local economy. We still need another two dining chairs to have enough seats around our dining table. For those looking to buy dining room furniture I don’t recommend our method of buying the table separately from the chairs. Just buy the set and be done with it. I received a $20 off coupon for the World Market a few days ago and add that to the $15 off coupon I already had we went to buy the last set of chairs. When we got to the store we found out that the chairs were also on sale! So triple bonus for us!
Still, we have some friends staying with us on Sunday night. Everyone has complained about our guest bed (What? It’s not a deterrent to ever stay with us again? ) being too soft. I mean I’ve only had it since 1992. After trying all the main retail stores (Macy’s, JC Penny’s, and Sears) we couldn’t find any really nice, firm mattresses and didn’t cost as much as our queen mattress. So we decided to try one of those mattress stores you hear about – Mattress Discounters, Mattress Warehouse, etc. I already feel iffy about those places because they seem so sketchy. But we wanted to get a mattress so we had no choice but to at least look. And lo and behold this placed called Mattress Fame had extra firm mattresses! Pretty decent selection and much cheaper prices. Who knows if the mattress will last but we were at least happy with what we tried at the store. Dude tied it down on the roof of our car and we drove the 3 miles back to our house.
Since our family and friends are coming over this weekend we went to the local Giants to stock up on some food. Typically we use one of the hand held scanners because it’s not just fun but they also give coupons on the scanner. We’re not the type to clip coupons mostly because we forget them. I’m sure at some point we’ll be more diligent in using coupons if we actually got the paper to supply us with coupons but I guess that’s a different issue. While in the scanner checkout line I noticed a ton of people just using the registers as self-checkout. Man that sucked. Hello that’s not what these stations are used for. I’m guessing God wanted me to learn something because as soon as we tried to checkout the station basically barfed our whole shopping experience. It didn’t like our Giants Bonus card nor the scanners inventory of what we had scanned in. It took a manager about 20 minutes before we were finally checked out. Ironic ain’t it?
