Happy 25th Anniversary …

Today marks the 25th Anniversary of the Transformers!  It was today, May 8, 1984, that the first issue of The Transformers comic hit newsstands releasing the hounds for future comics, cartoons, toys and movies.  Wow, 25 years.  What have I been doing with my life? 

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! …

• I personally like this quote: Montgomery County is a solution in search of a problem.  Seems silly to me that they’re spending their time on this as opposed to bettering the schools or helping the needy or improving traffic congestion.  Wait!  I think they found another solution!
• As much flak as most people give Mayor-For-Life Marion Berry, I gotta give it to him for not voting for recognizing other states marriage laws.  As much as it’s bothersome to see what’s happening around the country I can see why it’s happening.  We are a sinful people.  A sinful nation.  The nation can only fall into sin if the elected leaders and people want to go that direction.
• Yeah, nice way to lead the nation. 
• Come to think of it, Hawaii has three interstates.  Guess it doesn’t really matter.
• Is this really that surprising?  When we had an actual landline we had the cheapest possible plan available yet the bill was over $60 with more than 52% of it being taxes and fees.
• Looks like it was just another fad.  Made me think of the SNL Colon Blow cereal skit.

Just a Day Behind …

Apparently, yesterday was Star Wars Day.

ROCK THE RED!  (or blue) …

Yesterday, at a church fellowship function I decided to wear my Washington Caps blue road jersey since they would be playing the Penguins on Saturday.  Plus, how often do I get to wear a Caps jersey in May?  Exactly.  It was interesting since it seemed like most of the folks there had never seen their blue jerseys.  I was a bit surprised because this was the jersey they wore during their lone Stanley Cup appearance in 1998.

Per the Caps uniform history page it looks like the blue road jersey’s were only worn for about five seasons.  From the 1995-1996 season to the 1999-2000 season where the alternative black jersey became the road jersey.  Then starting the 2007 season, Ted made the change back to having red and white based jerseys.  So I guess I have one of the shortest lived base colored jersey’s in Caps history.  I remember feeling a tad out of place the last time I went to a Caps game since everyone had red on.  I guess I really should spring for a new red jersey.

And, the Caps beat the Pens this afternoon 3-2 to go up 1-0 in the Eastern Conference Round 2 series.

And, while doing research on the Caps jersey history I found out that Papa Johns has a Caps Playoff special!!!  Which basically is get a cheese pizza for $9.99 on the day after a Caps playoff game.  For every goal the Caps score you get a free topping with the number of toppings doubled if they win!
