  • Life Busy.  But …

I was asked this question recently:

Would you rather go to church or would you rather be the church?

  • I Need Humor …

Me, Sharka doesn’t understand this t-shirt.
    (It’s “
Talk Like A Pirate Day” today!)

  • Time to Vote for Obama!

Well, if we lived here.  We’d have no choice but to.

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARG!

Have you ever had one of those moments where your brain hurt because of what someone said.  Not because they said something extremely stupid but because what they said was extremely irrational AND extremely stupid?  Not only that but you had to curve your desire to immediately lash out and respond to and correct their incompetence?  Plus you knew God didn’t want you to do that because right after you read the email that caused you to have such an irate outburst, the mail server started to suffer from NFS mounting issues and you couldn’t access your mail anymore.

  • Release the Hounds!

It only took a few weeks for the attacks to begin.  Guess they finally found some stuff about Palin, even if it isn’t true.  Man, you gotta luv sound bites and out of context remarks.  Makes for great comedy and confusion.

  • 2001 + 7

    We remember …

I think only a few people have seen this photo that I took from my
co-workers office window.  It was eerie to see the Pentagon like that.
  • It was like a White out …

The first game of the NFL kicked off on Thursday night which my beloved Redskins showed how long the season is gonna be.  It was good that they held the Giants to only 16 points and it looks like they chose the right punter but really it was a bad game.  Someone should have called social services on Plaxico Burress for all the man-handling and abuse he did on the Skins cornerbacks.  The only hope is that even though the offense looked bad they seem to get a little better as the game was going on.  If the offensive line can actually do some pass protection then maybe things will click as the season goes on.  We shall see.  If anything, this really hurts our weekly pizza ordering.

Post-Redskins game was McCain’s nomination acceptance speech.  I thought it was interesting that the game ended exactly at 10pm, right when McCain was supposed to speak.  Yeah think God had a hand in all that?  Allowing those watching the first NFL game of the season to not miss any part of the speech?  Maybe.  Just maybe.

    Personal thoughts on the speech:

    • There really were a lot of Caucasians in the audience.  A lot of middle-aged and up Caucasians with a sprinkling of younger folk and minorities.
    • They seemed to be more rowdier than those who attended the Obama’s speech.  I don’t recall the Dems being all that rowdy during Obama’s speech.
    • Saw a few people yawning in the audience.
    • Sarah Palin looks like a older Tina Fey (which I’m sure multiple people have already said).  I wonder if Tina Fey will do some SNL skits this year.  Which reminds me I should start taping it since they really do some great political skits.
    • Whenever McCain would stop to laugh or pause I kept on thinking Dr. Evil and was hoping McCain would raise his pinky to his mouth.
    • There was a decent amount of stuff about how if elected President McCain would help benefit “us” the people.  Not as much as Obama’s speech though.
    • I think this is why I tend to gravitate to the GOP than with the Donkey.  Listening to McCain’s speech there was a greater emphasis on bettering the country and the world.  That we as a people seek to have the ability to make decisions and choices that can better us instead of having things given to us because we feel we deserve it.  That’s the difference I see between the GOP and the Donkey.  Republicans tend to think that as a person, given the chance, we can do better not just for ourselves but also in helping our fellow man.  The Democrat’s have a sense of endowment.  I am owed something and you better give it to me whether I’ve earned it or not.  One’s an outward thinking of improvement and the other is a selfish sense of entitlement.  Unfortunately, I think there is a higher percentage of people who think about entitlement rather than using themselves as a vessel of improvement whether at a personal level or to those they can influence.
    • McCain really isn’t that great at speaking.  He’s no Slick Willy which I find refreshing.
    • Still waaaaay too many references to the military but I guess he’s going with what he knows.
    • With all the kids McCain and Palin have I wonder if they’ll be any spots left for the annual Easter Egg Roll at the White House.
