  • It’s been awhile between posts.  Been busy, been sick, been hurt, post-Botcon blues and really just nothing interesting happening (Sharka still staring at his Transformers sign); other than having to mow the lawn every week.  I decided a few weeks ago to take a break from commenting about federal and state governments or the lack there of.  It’s just too easy to see how there’s a ton of waste and too much effort in trying to please that ” gotta have it now” factor in all of us.  It has been interesting in how the number of people who ask us about the efficiency of our Prius has increased over the past month or so.

Burma happened.  China happened.  It’s strange how we have two huge natural disasters within such a short time frame.  Maybe God is saying something about things over in that part of the world.  I’ve been reading a bunch about Burma and how their government seemingly is only after it’s own special interests and not serving the people they govern.  Truly sad.  It’s nice to be compassionate but is it morally fine to be compassionate when it ultimately serves a greater evil?  Tough call.  A perfect world would be that we’d be able to aid those in need as we’ve been trying to.  Unfortunately, in this world that aid gets redirected to a government only looking at it’s own self-interests.  It’s good to know there have been avenues around this but their government is slowly closing those up.  Sad, truly sad.

Then there’s China.  Another disastrous situation.  Seemingly their government is trying their best to find and help those in the afflicted areas.  Yes, it’s a larger country with more resources and a better formed government.  I wonder if it’s because the Olympics are going to be in China soon and they are trying to “look” good (I wouldn’t put it past them) but nonetheless a 7.9 earthquake is a 7.9 earthquake.

No matter what the situation is continue prayers are needed for these countries and their people.

On a lighter note this is why we love BSG and Lost.  Then there’s Desmond.  Interesting note that FOX has secured shows created by J.J. Abram and Josh Whedon for next season.  Both sound interesting.

If you haven’t heard (it’s been all over the news) but Oscar Pistorius will get to try and qualify for the Olympics.  Big whoop right?  Well he’s a double-amputee and runs with prosthetic racing legs.  So I do admire his courage, strength and determination to get to a level where he’s extremely competitive and good at running but don’t those prosthetics give him some sorta of mechanical advantage?  I think I’d have some issues over that.  Obviously, there’s the Special Olympics but realistically he’s probably too good for that.  (I know that sounds cold hearted but come on!)  From an humanistic standpoint – Great!  NBC always love those human interest stories so we can look forward to watching it.  From a logical, scientific way of thinking I’d like to see the numbers behind it all.  Oh well.

Most of the Olympics are a farce anyways.  It’s used for political causes (don’t send the U.S.A. athletes because of Tibet) when it’s not supposed to be, it’s all about how much money the host country will make (and NBC) and the US sends a third of all the Olympics athletes there.  By shear numbers we should be doing better at the metal counts.   Even the playing field by having a more balanced representation of the world.  As you can see I have no interest in the Olympics.
