  • Welcome to the Communist States of America …

So who actually thinks this is a good idea?  Obviously I don’t.    This is a capitalistic country we live in right?  These private, non-government companies, have a shareholder elected Board that governs the direction of the company including how they compensate their C.E.O.’s.  Shouldn’t it be up to the shareholders to properly vote in the Board?  Why does Obama want to micromanage and waste more time and resources in areas the government isn’t supposed to be in.  Wait.  Oh yeah, that’s what the Democrats do.  They’re here to “protect” those who aren’t his wife  (Ooops forgot, wives are supposed to be off-limits.)

  • Um… did you read the letter you linked from your page? The idea is corporate transparency. Shareholders appoint the board members and the members hire the executives. What is the problem with the shareholders discussing the compensation packages of the executives they hire by proxy? There wouldn’t be any government intervention unless the failed to report the packages. And the fact that 269 votes were FOR the bill means that at least 36 Republicans helped pass the bill. Of course this really is a moot point isn’t it? Check the date on the link you provided. Do you still think this is relevant?

  • I think you miss my point. I never said I was against corporate transparency. I’m against the federal governments intervention into the practice of private corporations. Why does the federal government need to start micromanaging private corporations? If the shareholders want more corporate transparency then they have to give their elected Board that message. If the Board continues to hand out outrageous contracts to their CEO’s then they won’t be voted back onto the Board. Even if the bill was posted a year ago it’s still relevant because it shows the type of personality and thought process of Obama (and those who voted for the bill whether Democrat or Republican). Is that what this country needs? More politicians who desire a more meddlesome, micromanaging government. =P
