  • First post with FIOS internet …

Now this is what I would call “Comcastic” and it’s not even Comcast.

  • It’s sad when two Jewish co-workers have to tell you when Easter is …

However, these guys are sooooo cute!  This looks like some amazing sewing work being done.  A bit pricey for a commission but nonetheless that’s a lot of hard work.

  • AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

And people wonder why I’m paranoid!

  • The Awakening has left the building – Chewy and I decided to visit the old guy one last time at Hains Point.
(There were always a bunch of kids on the head so no real good pictures of that one piece.)

  • It’s Valentines Day …

    As the commercial says she
wants to hear those four little words:

    “He went to Jareds.”

So you know what that’s gotta mean!  Go to Jarad’s favorite place and pick up dinner there!  They have eight 6″ sandwiches that have 6 grams of fat or less!!!  Go and celebrate 10 years of Jared Fogle taking it off and keeping it off!  Subway – it’ll be a dinner she’ll never forget.

  • AARRRGGGG!!!!!  I hate when I’m wrong  As Bush just signed the economic stimulus package bill today any tax rebate money you receive is not considered taxable (at least at the Federal level – not sure how your State or City *snicker* views it).

I’m not too sure how accurate this is but it can make a person go paranoid (or be even more paranoid)

Finally, it’s always good to see fellow Asians succeed, even if it’s in the non-typical method.  A day off is a terrible thing to waste.  Thankfully there is mindless TV to fill-in that void.

  • Sharka gives a “thumbs up” to all voters!
  • This is how it felt today …

(which ironically was today’s Pooch Cafe strip)

Has anyone else been reading the various articles (here and here) about Border Patrol search and seizure of electronic devices such as laptops, blackberries, cellphones and other devices that can store data?  As much as I’m an advocate for national security this seems to go against the whole idea of the 4th Amendment and personal privacy rules.  The fact they are forcing people to login to their laptops to do the search, not returning said property and I think the kicker is they are not specifying what U.S. law they are utilizing to search your items.  I know on my work laptop there is a pop-up before login that states the Federal Law against unauthorized usage of the laptop.  I would expect that if anyone other than myself or someone from where I work were to use it they would then be liable to whatever consequences my workplace could come up with.  Yeah I know, big threat.

On a side note, looks like we should stockup on some “Forever Stamps.”

  • The first thing “I” think of when I hear ‘Washington, D.C.’ is …

Yep, DC is getting a “state” quarter.  As stupid as it sounds because DC is a city not a state it’s nonetheless a reality.  With that, Mayor Fenty is having a design contest.  Being a native Washingtonian, it made me think “What would I want to represent Washington, D.C.?”  Here’s my list in no particular order:

    • A crack pipe – Gotta represent our “Mayor-For-Life” Marion Berry
    • A chalk outline
    • A car on cinder blocks with a smashed in window
    • A man with his arms raised while another points a gun at them
    • The words: “Not a State” – only to drill it into the minds of the people

Yes, I agree that the above is a pretty dismal viewpoint of our capitol city yet, I work downtown and we attend church in D.C.  That’s six of the seven weekdays that I personally am in the city.  Yet, even with all the positive changes the city is going through post-Berry administration (You have to agree that Mayor Williams and Mayor Fenty did a lot to improve the city especially with the hiring of Chancellor Rhee by Fenty.) these are my first impressions.  Not the cherry blossoms or the National Monuments or Federal Government buildings but just all the negatives.

Speaking with our pastor last night I asked him how the Associate Pastor search process has been going.  He seemed optimistic in some sense because of the new opportunities and resources at hand.  However, he did mentioned that when he spoke with other pastors their major concerns about shepherding a church located in DC was about the cost of living, high crime, high KDM rate, and poor public education.  That made me think – Who really wants to work in DC then?  Just those who want to be government workers or lobbyists.

I really have no answer to this.  Only the prayer that God sends someone to help shepherd our church with our Senior Pastor.

  • Curse that Grand Old Party!

Based upon the headline: “Republicans block stimulus bill” I’m sure most American folk would have similar outbursts against the Republicans.  I mean hey, everyone wants that extra “free” money right?  But noooooo, curse them Republican Senators for say “NO” to a hugely Democrat modified stimulus bill.  Unless you read the article do you see how the Democrats wanted to add another $40 Billion to it.  Wow.  Some measure of fiscal responsibility (I said “some measure” not absolute fiscal responsibility) by the Republicans.  Way to go,  Now we just have to get rid of this liberal media.
