Being thankful …
A little late for Thanksgiving but in general it’s always a good time to be thankful for the blessings our loving Savior has given to us.
- On Sunday, November 18th, Chewy publicly expressed that Christ was her savior through baptism.
- Chewy’s parents, as well as my family, were able to make it the baptism. I finally was able to pay for a meal.

- We were able to spend Thanksgiving with both immediate and extended family members.
- On Saturday night, we were able to celebrate with an old high school friend his upcoming wedding. It was nice being able to catch up with a few friends and encourage another set of friends who are getting married soon.
- On Sunday night, we were able to have dinner with some friends that I grew up with at church. Even though we’ve all “moved on” in a sense we’re still able to gather, share and encourage one another through prayer and our friendship. Whether Christian or non-believers, God has truly blessed me with those who help keep me accountable and vice versa. What would we do without our family and friends; those that God has surrounded us for a reason? That and one within the group paid for dinner since he “finally” got a job.
(It’s funny because we all forgot our old tradition of paying for dinner whenever one of us got a new job, or a promotion – well I guess he didn’t forget and we thank him for the meal. =) - We had our new house windows installed today (except for three windows where they need to finish the outside cap – they ran out of the siding material) Even with it being cold outside, the inside is slowly warming up now. For those that were maybe expecting a Christmas present from us, we hope you like your bag of Ramen.

A side note commentary. Yesterday, Sean Taylor, a safety for the Washington Redskins died of a gunshot wound. If you’re a Skins fan it’s a tragic lost for the team because Taylor was a play maker and just beginning to fully tap the potential within him. For most of his time with the team he acted like a knucklehead. But ever since the birth of his daughter, us fans could see him slowly mature into a man. Yes, his untimely death is tragic especially for his 18 month-old daughter, his fiancĂ©e and the rest of his family. But for the public why does this death have more meaning than hearing that D.C. has surpassed the death total of 2006? Should we not treat death with the same importance or is the faceless victim just that? A faceless victim, only known by those who knew them.
Time with God is eternal. Life on earth is short. What are we doing for the Kingdom?
It’s pretty sad how coddled our society has become.
