  • Confused about Copyright or Fair Use laws?  Check out A Fair(y) Use Tale.
and yes, it did give me a headache too …

  • Oooooooh … the latest theatrical Transformers trailer came out a few days ago.

    • Do you feel that as an adult you could make a choice given a set amount of information?
    • Do you feel responsible for the actions that you take?
    • Or do you desire to have your mother or father second guess everything decision you make in your life and then make the decision for you?

Welcome to Montgomery County!  The place where Government watches over you and makes sure you lead a healthy life.  A place where decision making is held by those in government not those who reside there.  (I did not vote for these clowns) A place where we tell you to jump and we all jump because it’s Montgomery County.

Welcome to the first county in the United States of America that has banned trans fat in restaurants and markets.  A place where Freedom of choice to do federally legal actions is banned.  Smoking – it’s legal by US standards but illegal in public places in the brain numbing county of Montgomery.  Like some fries with that?  Nope, not if they’re cooked in FDA approved oils with trans fat because if they are I’m going to sue for ordering FRENCH FRIES (You think they’re fried?  Isn’t by nature frying food not healthy to begin with?)

I’m an adult in Montgomery County and I like the rest of the residents of this fine county need to have others make decisions for me.  I await the ban on foods with 300 or more calories.  OH NO!  That hamburger I just ate was 500 calories!  The fries another 500!  If I eat this every day I’m going to get fat but I love hamburgers and fries!  Montgomery County SAVE ME!!!!  Tell them that I need calorie controlled foods because excessive calorie intact leads to obesity and death!  Please or please make a law to protect me because I have the inability to live with my decisions.  These laws help us by removing the decision process for us.  Oh whoa is me.

Smoking.  Trans Fat.  What’s next?  Personal Freedom and the pursuit of happiness?  Wait!  I think I hear the illegal immigrants laughing because trans fats are the new killer fad (stuff like this is how people get elected) and no one wants to deal with the whole illegal immigration issue because we know it’s an actual issue that needs addressing.

Bah.  This is also a good read, especially the comments.  The best is from user SoMD: Ban English class in schools. It is discriminatory to the illegal aliens.    It hurts when they boo.  laff.

Note: Not that I’m an advocate of smoking but more the idea of protecting personal freedoms.  I enjoy a smokeless restaurant or other smoke-free establishments.  But until we are told cigarettes, tobacco and smoking them are illegal like snorting cocaine then by saying smokers are not welcomed to smoke in public places we are reverting back to the days of oppression.  (Any one remember what the 19th Amendment is?)  People have choices if they choose to make them.  Either stay in the area with a smoker or not.  Walk faster or on the other side of the street.  But alas we live in a “me, me, me” world.  I want it my way and that includes a state free of public smoking, life of no trans fat and government making choices for me because apparently I can’t.  Too bad I keep choosing to vote for the people that can’t win the election.    And yes, I could choose to live in another state.  But what fun would that be?

  • I’m in so much trouble …
Running errands I stumbled across the fact that Target dropped the price of the Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy down to $20.  WHAT A BARGAIN!  Either way, I’m in the process of rescuing Leia in the Death Star and haven’t started Bible study yet.    This is such a fun game.

  • Is discrimination against Asians really that subtle?  Or is it more like this or this?

  • Artoo, I found you!

  • I love the state of Maryland but it’s a shame so many influential people are bamboozled.  How could one support an opportunist like Clinton?  People look at what she said about Don Imus and applaud her for her sensitivity and righteousness.  What they don’t see is her taking $800,000 from a fund raiser sponsored by Timbaland.  Who’s Timbaland you ask?  Basically a rapper who heavily uses the same words Imus said in one sentence.  Gotta luv and support a Yankee fan in New York and a Cubs fan in Chicago.

There’s just too much fodder out there.  Obama and the MySpace page – thats just funny and yet so wrong since the dude was forced out of his own site.  I heard they made up and everything but I wonder how and what MySpace did will set some sort of precedence for similar future instances.  I do however give Obama one positive notch for these comments.  Either way, it’ll be hard to determine who to vote for in over a year especially with such juicy fodder.

  • A few quotes from Waiting For the Second Coming: Studies in Thessalonians by Pastor Ray Stedman:

Christians had begun to live for themselves instead of for the Lord.  What tremendous power Christians could wield in the world today if only they knew who they are called to be.  And what tremendous evil they permit in the world when they refuse to live as God wants them to live. (The Man Who Claims to be God. pg. 55)

Many people think of work as a kind of curse, something that has been imposed upon man because of the Fall.  Actually, work is really a blessing, though we tend to forget that at times.  (Is Work a Curse? pg. 67)

  • w00t!  Today is Free Comic Book Day!  It was two free comics for customers at Beyond Comics so I was able to snag both the Transformers Official Movie Prequel #1 and Battlestar Galactica Season Zero #0 issues.

  • More worthy-to-talk about fallout from Imus

I found the most interesting parts were the quotes.  I always wondered about the double standard in use of the N-word.  Even if it’s said ending with an ‘er’ or an ‘a’ I’ve heard it said by all race groups and react differently – heck I’ve heard people get upset when it ends in ‘ardly‘.  It’s not like I call my friends Chinaman, chink, slant-eyed or oriental(Baby you can’t taste racism. - Note: Only view that link if you’re not sensitive to racism, curse words, crude remarks, satire or have any desire to hear the sad truth.)  There are no terms of endearment for saying such things.  No cultural gap between the ages.  The double standard just seems profoundly stupid.  Not that I’m dealing with absolutes, it’s just one persons opinion.  I’m more than happy to be enlightened by an opposing view point but unfortunately, the Post article does not dispel my opinion on the double standard we live in.  It’s not like today where kids are learning that everyone can have an opinion and even if it’s factually wrong  it’s fine to maintain that all opinions are never wrong.
