  • A friend of mine is going to China soon.  I wonder if he’ll be able to make a little detour to see this.  Hope he enjoys his trip and the good food.

The PS3 was released in Japan.

Microsoft’s answer to the iPod came out today.  The Zune.  ooooooh.  Other than that brown color, I like how it looks.  That wide screen display looks sweet and the controls do seem to be better than the single iPod wheel (which I didn’t like on mine).  But with all Microsoft products it’s safer to wait until they get most of the bugs out.  As an old English prof of mine used to say “Don’t give me sizzle without no steak.”  The Zune looks nice (the sizzle) but for now it’s probably a piece of liver.

This article was in yesterdays Liberal Post (Yes, I make fun of it even if I read it almost daily).  It really irked me after reading it but I wanted to have a happy day yesterday so I didn’t post it or my thoughts.  It’s all about politics and obviously not about
the safety or well being of the nation at hand.
This was the most offending portion of the article:

But when it comes to immigration, things are never easy.
In the days after the election, Democratic leaders surprised pro-immigration
groups by not including the issue on their list of immediate priorities.
Experts said the issue is so complicated, so sensitive and so explosive that it
could easily blow up in the Democrats’ faces and give control of Congress back
to Republicans in the next election two years from now. And a number of
Democrats who took a hard line on illegal immigration were also elected to
    Congress.

It’s because of stupid stuff like this and the lack of vision to see the big picture that makes me want to go into politics.  (But come on, I’d never win in Maryland.  Especially if Michael Steele can’t win here.  That and I’m also jaded after watching Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.)  We have become a nation of “me, me, me” and that’s going to bite us in the rear again.  On this particular subject, think September 11th and how many of the terrorist were here legally at the time of the attack?  Hmmmm, yeah.  Exactly.  Thing’s are broken (immigration, social security, education, national security, etc) and what are the Dems leaders worried about?  The elections in two years!  I’m sure Alex Baldwin is happy.

  • w00t!  Today we celebrate our Second Year Anniversary of marriage.   We celebrate by first going to the dentist and then to Le Palais for dinner.  No Redskin’s Papa Johns Pizza for us today.  (Mostly because they only scored 3 points – ugh)

  • ACK!  A deal with the devil was just made!  I agree that trading a reliever for a starter and cash sounds like a great trade but why are the Orioles helping the Yankee’s out?  Yes, we need starting pitching and Britton was a nice surprise as a rookie and may not pan out in the long run but dealing with the ultimate baseball evil?!?  Why Duquette, why?!

  • Thats right! It’s for nerds and we’re not nerds.  Plus it’s much better than Star Trek.

  • Two semesters of bowling and I never learned
this technique.  Must be that super
advance bowling class that’s only available at the graduate level.

  • Where’s the action?

Just found this little tidbit for those hardcore Lost fans.  McFarlane does make some cool action figures and sculps but I’m not too sure how they could label these as “action figures” since from the few pictures that I’ve seen they don’t seem to have any movable parts. That would be ZERO points of articulation.  Not too much “action” that figure is going to get just standing there looking pretty.  And indeed they are pretty.

  • Niffty idea for those gamers out there.  It’s not like the idea is a new one but another attempt to make some $$$ off of trading games and not letting places like EBGames or GameStop extremely rob those who trade their games there.  Plus the creaters of Goozex are from UMCP.  Gotta give them some props.

  • If the United States is the example of
democracy, why is voter turnout so low?  Why do other nations have larger
voter turnout that we do?  Is the United States really the example of
democracy or the example of neglect?

  • So close yet so far …

Yep, that’s the leftover wedding favors/Halloween candy.

  • What you could have been for Halloween.

This has got to be the Ultimate Transformer costume.

    Not Sharka!

The Washington Post reports that the seafood population could be depleted by 2048.

I’ve got two initial feelings about this:

    1. I have an
urge to eat massive amounts of shrimp, scallops, fish, crabs and an assortment
of other seafood that most Chinese people eat.

    To quote Bubba Gump:

Anyway, like I was sayin’, shrimp is the fruit of the sea.
You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey’s uh,
shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried.
There’s pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp
soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp
    sandwich. That- that’s about it.

    2. Who cares?
There’s enough to get us by for a good decade.  Eventually, things will work itself out and they’ll be enough for
everyone to share.  Nothing is broken
and it’s only propaganda to scare you.
If your blood is starting to boil these were some of the same arguments
used by the Democrats when the Republicans wanted to propose fixes to Social Security based upon the status report
    in 2005
.  In 2018, SS would have to
start borrowing against itself because there would not be enough money flow into
the system with too many payments out.
Then in 2041 Social Security would totally be bankrupt leaving nothing
for the current generation, the previous generation or the future generation.  Where do you belong?  Strong feels about one thing or some things
or nothing at all?  Or living in a box
where we only care for the decisions that we think affect us?  Remember that every decision we make has a
ripple effect not just on us but those around us.
