  • iVirus. iWorm. iSpyware.  iOuch!

Looks like a few iPods got shipped with a computer virus on them.  I do love this one quote from a Washington Post security blog about this:

“I paid $250 for this thing, and it’s pretty ridiculous that Apple’s
quality control is not better than that, because a lot of people who
might get an iPod probably don’t have up to date anti-virus [software]
    installed,” he said.

Uh, something tells me if your anti-virus isn’t up to date then you’re part of the problem as well as Apple is (at least in this case).  I can’t wait for the next iPod commercial.  Maybe it’ll be something like iMonkey gone crazy!

  • Got a few grand lying around?

And ya don’t know what to be for Halloween?  This dude makes custom transformable costumes for people.  That’s gotta be fun lying on your stomach (or back – not too sure) and pretending you’re a car or a plane.  Yeah, I know.  It’s still pretty cool.

  • Yes, my master.  What is thy bidding?

How cool is this?  Mimoco, with Lucas’s permission, is creating Star Wars designer flash drives.  Comes in your standard 1, 2 and 4GB flavors of USB removable storage goodness.  The rumor is that only 3,500 of each character flash drives will be made.  That Lucas is a marketing genius since I’m sure Star Wars fans across the planet will try and get their grubby little hands on these guys.  Why Vadar has ears on the top of his helmet no one knows.  But still, can’t you just envision yourself saying this everytime you use the flash drive: Luke. Luke.  I am your father.

  • Pac-Man isn’t just a game you play …

It’s a crispy corn cereal that’s errr came and went and now
there’s this to remind us of the jolly pellet eating yellow sphere we all love.  What fun this would be to wear to the office
on a certain pagan holiday.  Just don’t wear
it when playing paintball.   <chomp> <chomp> delicious!

  • And there it goes …

At about 3:20pm we said good-bye to my 1998 Oldsmobile Cutlas GLS.  We decided to donate it to Melwood instead of trying to get some type of trade-in value when we go and buy another car.  My only beef with Melwood is that their towing company said they would be around between 6am and 3pm.  True, you don’t have to be around for them to tow the car but even still they were late!  Oh well.  Shouldn’t complain too much since it’s for a good cause.

    bye bye o’l friend.
  • Chewy found this pretty cool Internet Radio site called
Pandora Internet Radio, which was created by the Music Genome Project (MGP).  The cool part is that you decide what music
is actually played based upon the artist or song style.  From that point you can add other songs based upon the suggestions provided by the site (which are derived from the MGP).  You do
have to register to listen and there are ads but they do provide an ad-free
site for a cost.  Pretty neat IMO.

  • Reports are coming in that Google is in talks to buy YouTube for about $1.6 billion.  With all the copyright issues Google has had with their searchable books project I wonder how acquiring YouTube will help or hurt them.

  • While walking through one of our buildings at
work I said “Hello” to this lady that I know named “BJ.”  Walking back to my office I started to think
about the name “BJ” and how that last initial “J” can be combined with almost any
letter of the alphabet.  AJ, BJ, CJ, DJ,
EJ, FJ, GJ, HJ, IJ (IJ Hudson of NBC4
News), JJ, KJ (Kevin Johnson’s nickname of NBA fame), LJ, MJ, NJ, OJ (The Juice is loose!), PJ, QJ, RJ (met a guy at a party named RJ – of which he quickly got
nicknamed 45 by my co-workers – silly geek humor ), SJ, TJ, UJ, VJ (maybe not as
initials but sounding wise yes – Vijay Singh), WJ, XJ, YJ
and ZJ.  That’s 11 alphabets that
don’t work (and one maybe – VJ).

I need to find better things to think about …
