Can you eat too much food?
I think we did today. After
service we met up with my family and my cousins family to celebrate our Aunts
birthday at Fortune Star. The food was
half-decent but there was just way too much of it. It was nice being able to be with family and just have a relaxing
weekend. It seems like between work, church activities and
family we rarely have a weekend just for ourselves. I think we both felt somewhat guilty because the church needed
some help with cleaning up the church on Saturday but we were both beat –
physically and mentally. We decided to
get some rest and recharge our batteries by sleeping in and heading out to
Baltimore to see an Orioles game. It
was a great win because the O’s won (something I rarely see when I go to a game)
in the 9th inning breaking a 2-2 tie. It’s tough to say “no” to helping out at church, mostly because
we were both brought up with the lessons of the importance of service, setting
the example and the idea that many hands make the work go faster. But we also have learned that God’s servicing
world does not rotate around two people.
It’s important to have opportunities available for others and to also
take rest and be joyful for the rest that God gives us. God gives us rest and God gives us the opportunities
to grow joyfully through our faith, service and love towards others.

that’s a good word. richard foster, in celebration of discipline, wrote something similar about “the discipline of service”–that part of practicing the discipline is allowing others to serve. amen about joyful rest.
Glad family had priority today
Good seein you & Chewie!

is fortune star like an independent version of todai with some western food thrown in?
