  • Not Your Fathers Optimus Prime …

Apparently this was on Don Murphy’s forum and now it’s being past around the Transformer fan sites.  I know there’s a huge uproar about how the new TFs are going to look and as much as a TF purest I am this Prime looks pretty nice.  Even with the flames I like the colors and am glad they kept the classic “Prime” head.  His arms and legs are somewhat skinny but thats one BFG!

Less than a year to go.  I can’t wait!

  • You know it’s going to be one of those days when the first thing that happens when you first sit down at your desk is that your boss comes in and asks “So have you started to work on fixing the problem yet?”  Boy did he get a big “Huh?!” from me.

Humor always seems to work in getting me through one of these days …

    Stormtrooper Sharka

Aren’t you short for a stormtrooper? … Wait!  Where are your eyes!!!!
    Man I kill myself!
  • Just a few quotes from Chapter 3: Training Vs. Trying: The Truth About Spiritual Disciplines of John Ortberg’s The Life You’ve Always
Wanted: Spiritual Disciplines for Ordinary People

Spiritual disciple: Any activity that can help me gain power
to live life as Jesus taught and modeled it. (p. 48)

A disciplined person is someone who can do the right thing
at the right time in the right way with the right spirit. (p. 50)

Life counts – all of it.
Every moment is potentially an opportunity to be guided by God into his
way of living.  Every moment is a chance
to learn from Jesus how to live in the kingdom of God. (p. 54)

  • Can you eat too much food?
I think we did today.  After
service we met up with my family and my cousins family to celebrate our Aunts
birthday at Fortune Star.  The food was
half-decent but there was just way too much of it.  It was nice being able to be with family and just have a relaxing
    weekend.

It seems like between work, church activities and
family we rarely have a weekend just for ourselves.  I think we both felt somewhat guilty because the church needed
some help with cleaning up the church on Saturday but we were both beat –
physically and mentally.  We decided to
get some rest and recharge our batteries by sleeping in and heading out to
Baltimore to see an Orioles game.  It
was a great win because the O’s won (something I rarely see when I go to a game)
in the 9th inning breaking a 2-2 tie.

It’s tough to say “no” to helping out at church, mostly because
we were both brought up with the lessons of the importance of service, setting
the example and the idea that many hands make the work go faster.  But we also have learned that God’s servicing
world does not rotate around two people.
It’s important to have opportunities available for others and to also
take rest and be joyful for the rest that God gives us.  God gives us rest and God gives us the opportunities
to grow joyfully through our faith, service and love towards others.

  • Aren’t these the coolest?
    They’re only mock-ups but still!
Of course my closet-transformers-self would never wear one outside the
    house.

I haven’t mentioned anything about Snakes on a Plane lately only because I’ve been holding out on sharing these little nuggets of Transformer / Transfan humor:

We Transfans are an odd bunch

  • I don’t condone smoking but I do believe it is the choice of
the person to make the decision to either slowly kill themselves or to not
    smoke.  However, to edit classic
    cartoons
where it’s more prevalent to be an animated whack-a-mole than it is to
smoke is somehow just wrong.  First they
edited the classic Warner Brothers cartoons and now this.  People need to come back to reality and
learn that they need to teach their kids how to make proper life choices and
that it’s not the television or the school system that are the parents.  People giving television a bad rap is not
    cool!

  • Hmmmm pizza … For those that enjoy a fresh pie from Papa
John’s and live in the DC area, Mondays are Redskins Special day.  Get a large cheese pizza for $8.99 plus one
free topping per touchdown the Skin’s score; double the amount of toppings if
they win.  Even if you’re not a Skins
fan this is a great deal!  And if you
didn’t know the Skin’s scored two touchdowns on Saturday but lost the
    game.  (That’s a two-topping pizza for
$8.99 + tax for all you math folk out there)

This should work in most of the Papa John’s in the DC area
either through a phone order or a walk-in.
Doesn’t look like you can order it through papajohns.com but it’s a
small price to pay for an extremely great pizza for under $10!!!  Monday only.

Remember to greet the worker and ask for the
    Redskins special!   Hmmmm pizza …

  • Wow.  I just spent
the last two hours drafting my players for this seasons Fantasy Football team.  This is the first time I’ve actually participated in the draft,
as opposed to letting the computer pick for me, because I was actually around for
it.  Hopefully, I’ll be able to recapture
my 2004 magic and claim this seasons title.

  • We had our first worship service in the new church building
today.  It really was an incredible day
to be in worship and thanksgiving with fellow believers.  I somewhat felt I had missed part of being
with this church family during the closing and opening ceremonies last week
because I was running around moving equipment or trying to set up sound stuff.  However, God does provide and no matter what
I may feel or would like to feel His will needs to be the focus of my
    desires.

    With about 10 minutes before
service started today, everything sound-wise was setup and I had an opportunity
to just sit in the balcony and observe the church and the people within.  It was an awesome feeling to know that God
was here, today in our presence and I felt that He was pleased with everyone’s
efforts.  Pleased with those who spent
the time to polish the brass, clean and shine the pews, vacuumed the floor,
moved boxes from one room to another and then back into the original room, moved
items from the old church to this building and the countless other things that
His people did.  It was a nice bit of
quiet time in prayer and then back to reality when Pastor Charles began to
speak, I realized his microphone wasn’t on.
    Ack!

  • During a web interview they announced the names of what Transformers will be in the upcoming movie!!!

    Autobots:

Optimus Prime – Classic Prime type character. True hero of the Autobots.
Bumblebee – Underdog type character. The scout. Smallest of the gang. (Spike mentioned)
Jazz – Rock n’ roll style character.
Ratchet – New form. Emergency vehicle. Medical officer/Science officer. Repairs Transformers injured in battle.
Ironhide – Optimus’ oldest friend. Gritty

    Decepticons:
Megatron – Survival of fittest. Less idealistic version of humanity.
Starscream – 2-faced. Secretly plotting to overthrow Megatron. Doesn’t neccassarily want Megatron’s duties, but wants to be leader.
Brawl – Pissed off Decepticon. Heavy lifter. One of the first
ones not from G1. More experemental with Decepticons. More G1 styled
    characters to come with sequals.
Bonecrusher – Closest to constructicon. Hates all other Decepticons except for Megatron.
Barricade – Hunter type. Cop car, likes to get to things first.
Skorponok – closest to a beast era type of character.
Frenzy – Character who evolved from Soundwave. Had
contradictions to the original Soundwave, so they changed him to
    Frenzy. Smaller form. Stealth spy.
Blackout – Takes out ability to fight back. Likes to pulse blast
electronics. First tier attacker. Transport, one of the biggest
    decepticons in the movie.

I can’t wait!  It’s better than Snakes on a Plane!
