Oh My!!! All I need is the bow tie! (Plus it reminds me of the rumor about how Sylvester Stallone started to wear fake glasses to make himself look smarter)

The Doctor is in the House
I really only caught a few episodes of both seasons of House and I thought the show was half decent. Decent acting, interesting stories, even if they always followed the same formula in every episode. But there’s something about Season One that is making me like the show even more. (on a subconscience level I think it’s because House speaks his mind in a very sarcastic manner – something I wish I could do but know better not to do)
NBA Draft ‘06
Why? Why oh why do I
watch these things? For some reason, I’ve
gotten into watching both the NFL Draft and the NBA Draft. Why do I do this to myself? I eagerly wait for the local team to make
their pick, in this case the Washington Wizards, and when it’s their time to
pick there is no friggin expanded coverage on the pick!!! If you’re interested the Zards picked Oleksiy
Pecherov. ESPN is beginning to sux big time with their draft coverage. Though the whole Commissioner vs Dan Patrick snips right before Utah’s pick was
pretty funny.
Today’s Beef …
We know all about the rain we’ve been having. People are scurrying about trying to avoid
getting wet so they also carry these huge umbrellas. Of course what do they do with these umbrellas when they are
indoors? They close them up and for
some reason they grab them in the middle section and have them perpendicular to
them. Are people not aware of their own
person space or the fact that every move they make is an opportune chance to
impale, or whack the people around them?
On a more positive note, Chewy and I were going home on
Metro tonight. Grabbing a Grosvenor
train since it was relatively empty during the delayed rush hour metro traffic.
Our thinking was that we could at least sit down (it was a long day for both of
us) until we got to Grosvenor and then we’d wait for the next Shady Grove
train. Thankfully that Grosvenor train
became a Shady Grove train near the end.
That was so sweet. Gotta luv all the blessings from God!
We got some strawberries from Costco yesturday and had some dipping chocolate left (another Costco buy from 8 months ago). Some of these are for my parents – hopefully they last the week. hmmmmm chocolate covered strawberries …
Beef It’s What For Dinner …
Chewy is still out and about on her business trip so I
decided it would be STEAK night. I got
home a bit late today but still had time to cook this .88lb Rib eye in the
broiler. I love the broiler. (Note I got home too late to make anything
other than the steak but I did have strawberries during snack time after Bible
study.) It’ll even be better once we
setup our grill.
Pitching Lucas
Another Star Wars movie, eh? (I’m talking like a Canadian now) Actually yes, it is. However, in this case an old church friend of mine is in it and apparently she and her husband are huge Star Wars fan. Such avid fans that they make they own costumes and somehow she got into this little short. She’s Zam Wesell, the bounty hunter from Episode II. And yes, she made her own costume.
Take a gander and vote for it as well.
Metro life …
Apparently someone got sick on Metro today causing about a 70
plus minute delay in my commute home.
The odd thing is that it seemed like they were still making the
announcements that someone got ill at the Medical Center station for up to an
hour! An hour! That’s a long time to be sick in a Metro
station/train. Either way I’m glad I had last Friday’s Express (I didn’t finish it on Friday and had left it in the office) I finished the Sudoku puzzle (Hard) while waiting for the train. Friday’s Pearls Before Swine was hilarious as well:
So I’m finally home after getting a haircut and grabbing a
quick bite at Happy Uncle. Too tired to
start on Bible study so I’m just gonna go to sleep. Good thing it rained so no need to water the grass.
Took Chewy to the airport this morning for another weeklong
business trip out west. Ended up
missing church so I decided to mow the lawn so if anyone was planning on having
a BBQ for Father’s Day our lawn wouldn’t look that bad. After I had finished mowing the lawn I ended
up talking to our neighbor for a bit and exchanging various home
maintenance/upgrade projects that we’re working on. He gave me a tour of his place and he’s really done a nice job
with everything that he’s had installed/replaced. I mentioned a few things about how our houses differed and
decided to show him our living room since we have this 4×4 pole in our dining
room and he doesn’t. (I used to think
it was a support post but now I’m thinking otherwise.)
I felt somewhat weird since his house was a typical setup
with a living room, dining room, family room in the basement, etc. Our house is the ultimate in convenience, at
least for me it is. Though the weirdest
thing is that on his mantle he’s got some little dog figurines (the same type
of dog he had to put down a few weeks ago) along with a framed picture memorial
of his dog hanging above the mantle. We
have Darth Tater and Spud trooper. I now
see why Chewy is always bugging me to put my “toys” away.
Speaking of Darth Tater this always gives me a chuckle when
I see it:
Have you ever been so exhausted that your body just shuts
down? I think that’s what happened
today. I’ve been feeling so tired these
past few weeks, even going to bed before Chewy does, and finally today I just
felt ill and feverish. Chewy took my
temp before she went to work and I had a temp of 95.7 degrees!!!! Ok so maybe the fever part was in my head
but I did end up sleeping in until 10:30am.
(I secretly think it was the Mexico City ’68 logo that was sucking my
energy away.)
I wonder though if it’s because my anemic-self is craving
the wonderful red meat of cows. I did
feel a bit better after eating a few strips of Beef Jerky. Hmmmmm crafted from the very finest cuts of
USDA Inspected beef, carefully blended with just the right mix of savory
seasonings, and smoked to perfection.
Can’t beat that.
